Miracles
It's taken me until almost the end of this episode to realise who the guy in this is! It's Holland Manners! I guess seeing him as a caring father-figure was what was throwing me!

This is such a great show - why is it buried away on a nothing network at a silly time?

I think that show was cancelled. Which would explain why it got bad time placement. But if it was cancelled it didn't even make a whole season so it's probably amazing it even has a time spot.

sometimes British TV just irritates me! We get Miracles on Living TV and Jake 2.0 on Sky One - both of them are good and yet have been cancelled. We got Firefly on SciFi and Alias has just been moved to Bravo - all of them only available to people with cable or satelite (I can never spell that word!)

By the time they get shown on terrestrial television the censors cut them to shreds or they get moved around the schedules so much that you lose track of them.

Channel 4 tried to show Angel at 6pm and had to cut so much out it wasn't funny, they got to the end of season one and then sold the rights to Channel 5 (which a lot of people can't get without digital anyway) who started showing it and then stopped mid-season!

Why?!!

On top of that, there's no sign of any station buying the rights to Tru Calling yet!

That really sucks. (all the censoring) and to think that I heard that Americans were the evil ones when it came to TV censoring. Do you get the DVD's of shows there? They are heinously overpriced (at least in my mind when 50 bucks up until recently was only something I had on B-days and christmas)

I didn't know Jake 2.Whatever got cancelled. They are always bragging about it on UPN. I would say something here, but It would sound racist, which it isn't meant to be.

Alias probably gets edited a great deal in Europe, because thats where all the *evil* people are.

We do get the dvds, we're actually ahead of you guys with Buffy and Angel I think, but they're pretty expensive as well.

It was reported in SFX that Jake 2.0 hadn't been renewed past episode 18 which is a real shame as far as I'm concerned. I don't know that Alias gets cut that much to be honest, we're used to the "Evil European" stereotype so they don't tend to cut that much.

That's very commendable. Whenever anything even vaguely smells anti american it's not very nice to be here. :)

I never got into the Jake show.He was the geeky boy from popular and therefore he could not, at least in my mind, be a super spy. I had a hard enough time wrapping my mind around him being affair with a student teacher on an episode of CSI.

I'm very set in my TV ways.

But that's the beauty of Jake 2.0 - the geek who gets thrown into this bizarre situation and just about manages to screw it up but not quite.

Hmmm, and the fact that I'm a Xander fan might actually explain why I really like the show... *g*
[identity profile] alltherealice.livejournal.com on March 16th, 2004 05:00 am (UTC)
But Xander is like Rachel Leigh Cook in She's All That. The hot geek. (You are aware aren't you that your slowly converting me to a Xander fan? I almost watched Celeste in the City because of it.)

And Jake was a jerk getting in the way of my shipping plans for Popular.
[identity profile] whiskyinmind.livejournal.com on March 16th, 2004 05:04 am (UTC)
Yay! Another potential Xander-fan! Woo hoo!

You'll get no arguments from me about the hotness of that particular geek! I wasn't that into Popular, I watched it when I remembered it was on and the second season was so much better than the first but I wasn't really a fan. What were your shipping plans for it then?
[identity profile] alltherealice.livejournal.com on March 16th, 2004 05:17 am (UTC)
Well I don't remember thier names really anymore. The "geeky" main character girl, Sam I think, I wanted her to be with the black guy she dated for a little while. And the two that got married I wanted to stay married. I did want Nicole (I think her name was the mean one) to get a crush on Jake 2.0 because she donated her bone marrow to home. That's why I don't like him because he saved her life and he's all, "I hate her." later on in the season.
[identity profile] whiskyinmind.livejournal.com on March 16th, 2004 05:36 am (UTC)
Sam! That's who it was - she guested on Jake 2.0 and I couldn't work out where I knew her from! She and George were cute together but I hated her, she was so far up herself I just had no sympathy for her! The others, hmm, it would have been cool to see Nicole with Harrison for a while actually, could have made for some interesting play-offs with whatshername Brooke?
[identity profile] alltherealice.livejournal.com on March 16th, 2004 05:45 am (UTC)
Yeha it's all coming back to me now. I liked Sam out of obligation. She wasn't blonde. Therefore she was admirable in my book. Weren;t Harrison and Brooke kinda almost dating?

My favorite character though was MAry Cherry even though she was blond. She was crazy and great. I liked the science teacher to though.

BTW just out of curiousity what time is it where you are. I'm trying to figure out general time zones. It's 6:45 am here and I have yet to fall asleep.
[identity profile] whiskyinmind.livejournal.com on March 16th, 2004 05:55 am (UTC)
it's currently 1.53pm here, I'm at work and should really be working but I can't be bothered... *g*

I loved the science teacher! I keep seeing her in other things now and can't take her seriously without the metal finger!
[identity profile] alltherealice.livejournal.com on March 16th, 2004 06:13 am (UTC)
I keep thinking I see Mary Cherry everywhere. I love imdb for that reason. I'm always like, "What else have you ever been in hmm?"
[identity profile] whiskyinmind.livejournal.com on March 16th, 2004 06:14 am (UTC)
She popped up in an episode of Charmed a while back as Phoebe's assistant if I remember right.

Okay, I have a really dirty mind, as soon as I typed the word "popped" there in connection with Mary Cherry I just about lost it... *g*
[identity profile] alltherealice.livejournal.com on March 16th, 2004 06:16 am (UTC)
lol. Ok now I really need to sleep.
[identity profile] alltherealice.livejournal.com on March 16th, 2004 06:16 am (UTC)
Sorry to cut this short and abandon you to a rest of the day at work but I must go to sleep. I had my breakfast and now I must, for the most part, go and die. I probably won't be around till tonight because I think I'm that tired.

It was nice talking to you though. I'm usually all alone online in the middle of the night.
[identity profile] whiskyinmind.livejournal.com on March 16th, 2004 06:23 am (UTC)
aw - you're abondoning me? Now I have to actually do some work...

Have a good sleep!
