Okay, so in my eyes he's apparently the perfect man....
Xander
You're a Xander/Giles shipper.
Unconventional, but Xander really looks up to
Giles. Maybe Larry wasn't that wrong after all.

Go on, I dare someone to find me a "perfect Joyce pairing" quiz and for me *not* to get Xander as the perfect choice....

*grin*

You just want a happy Xander, don't you Sho, although I've figured out your perfect ship.

X/MJ!
[identity profile] whiskyinmind.livejournal.com on March 20th, 2004 12:57 pm (UTC)
You know something, I've actually read a couple of Xander-centric SW crossovers but never have I seen one with X/M as a couple!

Of course Mara Jade doesn't deserve him, a fanfic writer who used to go by the name of Mara Jaded does! *grin*

(You do realise you've just spawned a plot bunny don't you? So when Things gets delayed to draft Xander into Sleepless Knight you know you've got no one to blame but yourself...
[identity profile] alltherealice.livejournal.com on March 20th, 2004 12:59 pm (UTC)
You should write a Xander/You!!11!!!1! story. Like they've been doing all over the PotC sections.
[identity profile] whiskyinmind.livejournal.com on March 20th, 2004 01:10 pm (UTC)
But I'm so not a fan of Mary Sue stories... *grin*

Maybe though - once the whole pile of plot bunnies I came up with today get slaughtered and put in plot-bunny stew!
[identity profile] willowmina.livejournal.com on March 20th, 2004 01:00 pm (UTC)
What can I say, I'm one inspirational gal. Plus now would probably be the time to admit that Robyn in New Blood is not all that dissimilar to myself *cringes*, one of the reasons I want to re-write.

Just for the record, I got

Maybe she's not as gay as she thought she was?

So this is maybe where Oz makes a re-appearance and he and Will live happily ever after.
[identity profile] whiskyinmind.livejournal.com on March 20th, 2004 01:12 pm (UTC)
How's the re-write coming along then? Are we going to see it soon?

(and any ideas how I can get either Xander in the Star Wars universe or (my preference) Mara into the Buffyverse?)
[identity profile] willowmina.livejournal.com on March 20th, 2004 01:28 pm (UTC)
I've not been able to write since I finished The Greatest Love. It's quite worrying actually. I've got all these idea's for the New Blood re-write (mainly focusing on Rob's time with the Watcher's Council, staying just off Great Russell Street was a real inspiration), but I don't seem to have the urge to write at the moment. Although I'm thinking of maybe trying that W/O one that I said I might do on NHA. But partly it's also having the time.

Right, if I don't get chance tomorrow (which is likely as I've not ironed any shirts for Ben for 3 weeks, and they need doing). I'll write something on Tuesday, maybe get started on New Blood, maybe the W/O thing, or maybe something for the BBBFic challenge if I get assaulted by any plot-bunnies.

As for the MJ thing. Goes on a long-long journey in some sort of stasis field (if they have one in the SW-verse, if not, I'm sure someone can invent one!) and crash land in a big hole in the ground that used to be Sunnydale (and you do realise I have no idea what I'm talking about, right?)
[identity profile] whiskyinmind.livejournal.com on March 20th, 2004 01:33 pm (UTC)
that's a shame actually, I love the concept behind New Blood and really hope your muse starts to play along and helps you write it.

I've just had a bit of a flash of inspiration btw, the BBBFic challenge - extreme weather condition, convenient plot device - the perfect recipe for a Sci-Fi crossover! Hmm, methinks this X/MJ crossover might work!
[identity profile] willowmina.livejournal.com on March 20th, 2004 01:50 pm (UTC)
Hehe... I'm a plot-bunny breeder. If it were a non-challenge fic I'd offer to beta (could get Ben to check the SW end of things, he's been re-reading his books during his period of incapacity), but as it's a challenge Fic. Thanks for that though, I couldn't remember what the other requirement was, now if only I could remember what CPD I'd come up with.
[identity profile] whiskyinmind.livejournal.com on March 20th, 2004 01:52 pm (UTC)
The other stipulation is the word count - 1500 words or less again. I'm *so* not a fan of word limits right now!
[identity profile] willowmina.livejournal.com on March 20th, 2004 02:03 pm (UTC)
Heck, if it runs over I just find ways of saying the same thing in a shorter way. I'm a very wordy writer. I say why bother with 5 words when you can say the same thing with 50, comes in useful with the word counts as I can always cut a lot out.
[identity profile] whiskyinmind.livejournal.com on March 20th, 2004 02:07 pm (UTC)
I'm kind of the same - you should see the first drafts of Slayerless before Bill's red pen gets hold of them! - but then again, if we'd had a word limit on the first challenge I would never have gotten Joker written or Tears in Rain (both of which I love to death) and would have ended up just writing Take That! (which I hate with a fiery passion!)
[identity profile] willowmina.livejournal.com on March 20th, 2004 02:17 pm (UTC)
That one alway's makes me laugh. After I got over the Take That thing I never liked another Boy Band again, but my sister has/had a thing for Boyzone and Westlife, so I had to endure their albums non-stop full-volume from her room before I moved out, hence Buff and Will killing all boy-bands appealed to me.

Joker is good as well. The Bunny-girl was kinda spooky.
[identity profile] whiskyinmind.livejournal.com on March 20th, 2004 02:21 pm (UTC)
Someone liked Take That?!! (as in the fic!) I'm in shock!

A few folks over at Xander Zone want me to do a follow up to Joker exploring Jen/Bunny Girl a little more. It's a possibility a lot further in the future when I hit a brick wall with every fic I'm writing!
[identity profile] smhwpf.livejournal.com on March 21st, 2004 12:54 pm (UTC)
My cross-over-permitting theory for the fandomverse is this: that the great mythic sci-fi/fantasy universes, the ones that are so enduring and popular as to take on a life of their own in the world of their fans - actually exist in some other dimension. There are two possible explanations for this: one is that the enthusiasm and - almost and maybe actual belief of the fans actually creates the alternate dimension. The other, which I prefer I think, is that the authors of these works are somehow picking up subconscious spill-throughs of reality from the alternate universe, which is in a sense acting as their Muse.

Hence, favouring the second theory, there really is a Buffyverse in some dimension, there's a Trekverse in another, a Star Wars verse in a third, etc. Now we know that in the Buffyverse, all the others exist as fictional shows, films, etc. We don't know this is the case for Trek, but I'm sure if someone were to look back in their computer records, they'd find details of flims such as Star Wars, shows such as Buffy, etc. (Though not Star Trek of course!)

So, all it needs is for one of these tiny dimensional cracks that allow ideas to filter through and become stories, to open up into a rift that actually lets people and things through, and we have cross-overs!

I am determined to use this idea in a fic sometime. I'm inclined to think Buffy-Trek. Got some general ideas for a story, but not done any detailed thinking on it.
[identity profile] whiskyinmind.livejournal.com on March 21st, 2004 01:10 pm (UTC)
Now that is a good theory! Of course, as well as providing a believable explanation - nay, excuse - for crossovers, it could also point towards a mental instability...

*grin*
[identity profile] smhwpf.livejournal.com on March 21st, 2004 02:01 pm (UTC)
Mental instability? Just 'cos I hear voices from other dimensions?

Such prejudice! *g*
[identity profile] willowmina.livejournal.com on March 21st, 2004 02:49 pm (UTC)
Definitely pointing towards mental instability. Plus I kinda have this theory that everyone who has ever posted on the BBB and associated sites is more than a little crazy.

I didn't know you liked Trek, Sam. Can I indulge in a little advertising for Ben and suggest that if you like TNG you may like to take a look at his Final Reckoning Trilogy, most of which is up at Fanfiction.net
It's had a lot of good reviews, but I've no idea what he's on about.

That's mine htough the questions were kind of.. oh I don't know.. OBVIOUS! I just watched Passions though and thats the saddest episode ever on BtVS.
[identity profile] whiskyinmind.livejournal.com on March 20th, 2004 01:52 pm (UTC)
I *love* that episode! I always look on it as the point when no one could ever call Buffy a "teen" show ever again!
[identity profile] alltherealice.livejournal.com on March 20th, 2004 02:08 pm (UTC)
I love Giles when he's kicking hiney. I also love Giles when he's singing. Other times it's kind of eh. /that's the sad episode though. The Gift was sad but just at the end. Same with Your Welcome for Angel. Hole in the World and Passions are the epsiodes that wrench your heart out.
[identity profile] whiskyinmind.livejournal.com on March 20th, 2004 02:12 pm (UTC)
I do love that moment in Forever when Giles is toasting Joyce's memory as well.

I wasn't that cut up about the Gift to be honest - it was sad but didn't strike the same chord with me that Passion did.

With Angel - I'm completely with you on that one. You're Welcome was good but Hole in the World just tore me apart!
[identity profile] alltherealice.livejournal.com on March 20th, 2004 02:19 pm (UTC)
I had only been watching Buffy regularly for a few months when the Gift aired, I wanted to cry. But I don't cry. Joss is evil, if you fall in love your screwed in his world. I thought the wedding episode was pretty depressing to. Poor Xander and Anya. :(
[identity profile] whiskyinmind.livejournal.com on March 20th, 2004 02:25 pm (UTC)
I think the only time I actually cried over a Buffy episode was The Body - but that's mostly because my own mother died about six weeks before the episode aired in horribly similar circumstances (she had a heart attack in the house and I found her).

The wedding episode was really depressing actually, but I never got the whole thing at the end - why was Willow saying her "heart hurt" to think of Anya? Xander was/is her best friend and she was never the biggest Anya fan - wouldn't you expect her to be more worried about him?
[identity profile] alltherealice.livejournal.com on March 20th, 2004 02:31 pm (UTC)
You would think. But I think she saw all day how thrilled Anya was at the thought of the marriage.
[identity profile] whiskyinmind.livejournal.com on March 20th, 2004 02:36 pm (UTC)
I still think she should have been more concerned for Xander - added to that is the fact that when she said she was going to look for him during the build up when he went missing it didn't look like she actually went anywhere. I guess it's just part of the whole theme of the season with them growing apart until they finally realise they can't function without each other.
[identity profile] alltherealice.livejournal.com on March 20th, 2004 02:43 pm (UTC)
Yeah, I miss the Willow/Xander friendship of old. HAve you read when Hellmouths Collide? It's a BtVS/Hercules crossover. It's pretty good, but the Willow/Xander friendship in it is great. And hilarious. Thye really captured the spirit of both Willow and Xander from arly Buffy. Unfortunately most of the story is centered around Buffy. I skimmed those parts.
[identity profile] whiskyinmind.livejournal.com on March 20th, 2004 02:47 pm (UTC)
The name rings a bell actually - and since I'm an xover junkie right now that doesn't surprise me! Is it on TTH?

The best X/W fic I've read (friendship and otherwise) is Pete Mellinger's stuff (http://www.unfitforsociety.net/pete/buffystories.html) - "Touching Willow" being the one that springs to mind straight away
[identity profile] alltherealice.livejournal.com on March 20th, 2004 02:51 pm (UTC)
Jet Wolf has one Xander Willow friendship fic on NHA. It's them when they're kids, but it has a good ending. I don't think it was a surprise though, i think the end was in the title.
[identity profile] whiskyinmind.livejournal.com on March 20th, 2004 02:57 pm (UTC)
Cool! I'm heading over there now to read it!
[identity profile] willowmina.livejournal.com on March 20th, 2004 02:28 pm (UTC)
Would you believe that that (as in Hells Bells) is the one episode I still haven't seen. The rugby was on that week so my stepdad didn't record it and I missed it when the beeb showed it.

Need to get the vids/DVD's and get that episode watched.
[identity profile] alltherealice.livejournal.com on March 20th, 2004 02:32 pm (UTC)
I've only seen it once. The epsiode I keep missing is the one where everyone sings, though I don't try very hard to see it since I dont like season 6 very much.

The episode I always see that I hate is Ted. What episode can you just not stand?
[identity profile] whiskyinmind.livejournal.com on March 20th, 2004 02:40 pm (UTC)
Lemme think, there's a few episodes I don't watch on re-runs but out of them all which can't I stand? Probably Where The Wild Things Are - can't stomach the whole Buffy/Riley thing. But even that has it's saving points - Spike's little speech where he offers to help and then realises he can't stand them so buggers off is just classic!
[identity profile] alltherealice.livejournal.com on March 20th, 2004 02:45 pm (UTC)
See I liked Riley. I just didn't like watching them having sex constantly. I leave the room when Angel and Buffy finally screw because it disgusts me.

Ted's only ggod point is when Xander is calling him evil and hating him and then eats the cookie and is like, "Don't worry about it. Everything is coool."
[identity profile] willowmina.livejournal.com on March 20th, 2004 02:52 pm (UTC)
*feels [livejournal.com profile] alltherealice's head*

You liked Riley. I didn't think there was a Buffy fan who liked Riley. Gotta admit the whole sex thing in that is a leetle over the top. Although doesn't it have Willow's spanking line, if so there's a redeeming feature.
[identity profile] alltherealice.livejournal.com on March 20th, 2004 02:58 pm (UTC)
I've noticed that I was in the margin. He never really did anything that annoyed me. He was just there, in the end he was a little much, and I thought his interaction with Willow in the beginning was funny.

What's this spanking line you speak of? I think I know a line about Anya and spanking, but otherwise I'm drawing a blank.
[identity profile] willowmina.livejournal.com on March 21st, 2004 10:04 am (UTC)
I think it's in response to Anya's spanking line, or later on in the episode (I cannot for the life of me remember), but Will is heard to mutter that "everyone's getting spanked but me!" (oslt)

I love that line.
