soooo sleeeeepy....

I'm going to switch on submissions again on INAP even though the switch isn't complete. It's not going to be complete this weekend so I'll just take another copy of the database when it is ready to be done.

Man I'm tired.

Been copy/pasting code for the last hour of so - and I left my glasses at work. So now I'm going to go check my eyelids for holes for a while. Okay, I really have been listening to too much 'Phonics this weekend. Still knackered though.

Also reached the conclusion that I stress too much about making sure my sites have the latest gimmick, whether it actually adds anything to the site or not. So I'm going back to what I know and love - and what I'm good at - instead of spending hours stressing over why such-and-such a JavaScript command works in Firefox and not IE... and hours is not an exaggeration (in fact days wouldn't be an exaggeration).

Rambling now. I'll leave you to go back to your scheduled friends lists...

Oooo! BBC3 are repeating the last Doctor Who season! Yay!

How can you watch Dr. Who if you're going to check your eyelids for holes for a while? Unless your eyelids really do have holes in them, and if that's the case I think you'd better get yourself to the doctor instead of watching one.

And yes, you do stress too much over your sites, and I know saying this is going to have no effect whatsoever but I'm going to say it anyway. Take it easy, take a break, people will not blame you for spending some time to yourself.

Yeah, got distracted by the TV. And Photoshop (points at icon). I will be heading off soon - honest!

Ooohhhhh, pretty icon. And good that you're going to be heading off soon. You're probably not going to get much sleep next weekend so you need to get as much as possible before then. *grins*

And it's Freshers' Week at uni this week so work is going to be hectic for the length of time I'm there. And now I'm deliberatey shutting down Photoshop because I'm seriously tempted to do a sequence of abstract icons right now... must switch off computer... must not make icons... *g*

Sho. Move the mouse away from the photoshop icon and move it towards the switching off icon - I know addiction is hard to fight but it will help you in the long run. *g*

You have been working SO hard! Poor baby! But I'll bet the multitudinous visitors and contributors to INAP love you passionately for it!

*grins* I just wish I could say it was nearly done. I still have so much left to do before I can really rest easy, but hey - that's the fun of being a webmistress...

I need to remember to hug Shannon! She does all this stuff for me!

I feel your pain.

Maybe some tequila will alleviate it? *g*

webpages
My advice? Ditch javascript. Run PHP. It plays really well with SQL, looks better on the resume, and, as a server-side, doesn't have to worry about client-side issues. Less stress, and it's a better-built language, too. You don't get all of the funny shifting pages things, but, honestly, those are often more annoyance than they're worth. They make a statement, it's true, but the statement is "Look at me! I can do Javascript! Whee!"

Of course, this requires that you have a server that will run PHP, which I guess might be an issue for you.

just a thought.

Re: webpages
I've been using PHP with some of the sites I run with a lot of success, so I am leaning towards using it more and more these days. And you're so right about the Javascript statement - I also have severe problems with sites which rely on Flash. It can be good, and when it works it works well, but it's so overused that most of the time when I see the little Macromedia download link on the front page I roll my eyes... *g*
