I have a work-related conference/workshop thingy in Edinburgh today. I'm being a bit rebellious by wearing faded jeans, t-shirt top (albeit a plain, fairly smart one) and biker boots. (Y'know, my typical attire) and I don't really see the point of me being at this thing. (Boring joint library cataloguing project, which would potentially be of interest if I actually did any cataloguing but since I don't it's just a waste of my time.)

Anyway, point is, and I can't believe I didn't think of this until right now, it doesn't finish till half four. In Edinburgh. Which is an hour away from Glasgow by train, which is… what, a ten minute underground ride away from the Uni where my car is, and then there's another 40-55 minute drive home.

I'm not going to be in my house until around 8 o'clock tonight.

For a workshop that bears no relation to anything I do at work.

Unfortunately my boss is also going so I can't skip out early or anything like that.

Joy.

Ah well, I can always sit at the back and write fic I guess…

(Would it be rude of me to have my MP3 player on during the train ride? *g*)

My boss and another woman from work (who thinks shows like BtVS and Supernatural are the works of the devil...) are going to be on the same train...

A paranoid person would think they're sending me to this thing as punishment or something...

(And I still smile every time I see that icon!)

Good luck with the conference of Unecessary Boredom.

Also, when you need to give out that kind of personal info, like your phone, have you thought about :

a) Marking the thread so only fresleyforever can read it.

b) Responding and then deleting the comment (the email still gets sent).

I mean, it's not that I don't want to have your number, really, but this being the internets... :)

The conference overran. And the one bit I was actually interested in - I sat forward and everything - was rushed because some person talking about budgeting droned on for ages... *sigh*

As for the phone number, I knew I was going to delete the post once I was sure Mary had it and it was heavily filtered to a group who I don't mind knowing it.

('sides, I don't answer unknown numbers anyway..)

Yay, I'm non threatening. I'm just like one of the girls. :D

Gosh, I'm depressed. :)

Ah well, glad there was something that interested you, even if it was cut short over budgeting talk.

That sounds purgatorial!

It actually was better than I was expecting, but still... dull. (I'm literally just home, it's five past seven, so it wasn't too bad...)

I'm glad it was better than you had feared!

You'll have been on the rush-hour train back into Glasgow too. Hope you managed to grab a seat, the trains going the other way to Edinburgh are a nightmare finding seats on.

We were actually pretty lucky - got the five o'clock one which was kinda busy but with plenty of seats. The number of people waiting to board for the return journey was just scary!
