Some people should be sporked
With rusty sporks which break off in their flesh and fester away causing secondary infections and gangrene and eventually having bits fall off.

Over 50 false accounts have been created on INAP lately, all of them trying to hack into the database.

I want to write angsty porn, but I'm at work and I don't write higher than 15 rated when I'm at work, and by the time I get home I'll get all paranoid that I haven't finished the Sweet Charity stuff yet and then I'll start hunting for Dean/Wall pictures and then I'll get absolutely nothing done.

Think I'm going to patent my TechnoSpork©. The one with the MonkeyTronic® extendable telescopic handle (good for medium- to long-distance sporking). Added features include:
- Optional poison sacs, for administration of a range of toxins,
- Electro-shock function (batteries not included),
- Shoulder mounted launcher, for Extreme long-distance sporking,
- Laser sights, for added sporking accuracy,
- Ergonomically designed grip (no blisters),
- Wipe clean paintwork,
- Security mode (set to autospork),
- Anti-numpty setting (advanced autospork),
- Repeat function (continually sporks the target into submission).

Can't you add some sort of test to make sure it's people that are doing the registering, and not some bot?

Assuming it was a bot...

with the sheer number of accounts I kinda hope it was a bot, because otherwise someone has waaaaaay too much time on their hands.

There's checks in place before anyone can upload anything to the site (password needs to be validated and the admins are alerted for example) but the bio section can be updated by a bot - which is what seems to have happened in this case. I'm looking into disabling the bio segment prior to password/email authentication but it might take a little while since I'm not going to be online much this weekend.

Why are they doing it? Is it just one of those teen "Look at me I'm clever" idiots? Or is there some hidden depth to INAP that gives them a reason to hack it? Do you hide secret information on it that enables anyone who hacks into it to become instant millionaires? Or is yours the site that has the secret launch codes for the nuclear strike?

I could tell you, but then I'd have to have you killed...

Alas it seems that since INAP is one of the larger sites using the particular archiving script it automatically becomes a target for anyone trying to prove themselves by breaking the script.

So yeah, it's one of those 'Look at me I'm clever' idiots...

Don't get discouraged. Cling to the fact INAP is the best Xander website out there.
