Finally getting a chance to breathe which is all kinds of awesome!

WKA updates are all done, I've still to contact the nominees and hope to have that done this weekend.

Could do with more nominees in the following categories:

New Author
Overall Author
Het Author
I Like The Quiet (just Xander)
Crazy Whirligig of Fun (comedy/crack fic)

Also, I've been posting mixes for my [livejournal.com profile] leverageland big bang entry over at [livejournal.com profile] fandomsbitca along with a couple of Clint/Nat drabbles I wrote yesterday. And WOW it feels awesome to be writing again!

Eliot Mini-Mix

Eliot full mix

Hardison mix

Parker mix

Sophie mix

ClinTasha drabble: Wherever You Go

ClinTasha drabble: Sometimes He Flies

Final thing, just upgraded my sites to the latest version of PHP and it's screwing with some of the scripts - specifically WordPress and Coppermine - working on it, will get it cleared up soon but you might see some funny error messages at the top of the pages for a while. Shouldn't have too much impact apart from making the pages look fugly. :(

Apologies for the influx of spam reviews that have hit the I Need a Parrot site lately. I'm working on deleting them all and banning the offenders.

Unfortunately with a site such as this we are never going to be completely immune to this kind of thing and we can only beat them together. If you have received a spam review on any of your stories - or if you've noticed them on someone else's story while you've been reading - please let me know either by using the 'report a violation of rules' option on the site or by emailing directly to admin@moments-lost.org with a link to the offending review and/or user.

In addition, I am going through the member list and deleting the obvious spam bots and it would help immeasurably if genuine members could edit their profiles with some kind of indication that they are actual people and not spam bots.

Thank you all for your patience!

Shona (aka Mara)

So... there's a problem with the websites. Apparently one of my host's databases has been infiltrated and as such my password's been reset. Fine, not a problem, expcept for the fact that I now can't log in to the FTP site. So this is a head's up. I can't updare the websites at the moment, I'm trying to get it fixed asap, but my time online's limited as you know.

I'm not a happy bunny right now.

(any of the rest of you with DreamHost having similar issues? I know [livejournal.com profile] dragonydreams and [livejournal.com profile] stir_of_echoes had accounts there, are you still with 'em guys? Can you get to either the FTP site or the WebFTP?)

Edit to add

SO it seems as though it's taking its time to register the changes in passwords. It's been... about two hours I think? And it's now recognising me, so guys, if you're having this problem just give it time.

The hosting bill for ...moments-lost... comes due in just over a month (29th August). At the moment I am $250 short of being able to pay it.

I hate asking for money, but at the moment I have no other option.

If you would like to donate towards the hosting of the sites, please click here to make a donation via PayPal (this method goes straight to the site host and doesn't come near me or my bank account at all).

Thank you.

I really didn't want to do this, but unfortunately I don't have a choice.

My current situation is that I cannot afford to renew my hosting account for the sites when it comes due at the start of September. I'm trying to save what I can but I already know it's not going to be enough. So... (and believe me, I hate doing this):

Donate towards my web hosting bill!

This is for all of the sites hosted on the Moments Lost domain

I Need A Parrot (BtVS: Xander)
White Knight Awards (BtVS: Xander fic awards)
Effects of a Troubled Heart (BtVS: F/X)
Hand on Heart (BtVS: B/X)
Spirit of the Heart (BtVS: W/X)
Key to the Heart (BtVS: D/X)
Dauthers of Sineya (BtVS: Slayers)
Salt & Burn Archive (SPN: fic archive)
Salt & Burn Awards (SPN: fic awards)

Thank you.

Taking the time I'm ignoring real life to catch up with my online stuff and I realised I haven't actually updated my own site with half of the things I've written/created lately. It's 'cause I'm lazy to be honest, and even though I love working with code, updating an already existing page is kinda dull.

So... I'm halfways towards considering implementing a blog on the index page which will be quicker to update. I toyed with this idea before and used a programme called Cute News for a while, but got so much spam on it it's beyond the joke. So my question is this: should I embed a blog on the page, and if so what's the best one to use? I guess I could embed the [livejournal.com profile] fandomsbitca LJ on there, but I kinda like being able to control the page design better than LJ does. I was leaning towards WordPress but I've never used it before - anyone out there in LJLand used it and have any reviews on it?

Or, if anyone has any other suggestions, I'm all ears!

Also - please go go nominate at the Salt & Burn Awards? We're doing better and the quality of the nominees is kinda awesome, but the quantity... isn't.

Cheers!

(eta or maybe I shouldn't even be thinking of coding right now since it took me four attempts to get the HTML right on this post!)

So apparently geocities is closing this year.

My first ever sites were hosted on that platform (and how hard am I trying not to type the word 'Geoshitties' right now?!)

The content is still there. A lot of content I have never transferred over to the other hosting sites.

Including some very, very old fic of mine.

That, I'm in two minds about rescuing before the files are lost, mostly because the reason I never transferred them is simply because they aren't very good.

But... I also hosted fic by other authors on there. [livejournal.com profile] smhwpf, [livejournal.com profile] willowmina, [livejournal.com profile] monkey_matt, [livejournal.com profile] claudia6913, [livejournal.com profile] rileysaplank and others. I think those guys deserve to have their work saved.

So... here's the favour. I simply do not have the time to spend online right now. I don't know when the files will disappear, so I'd like to back them up before too much longer.

Would anyone be willing to help me out with that? All it would involve would be saving the html files (you can even include the annoying geoshitties pop-ups and banners, they're easy enough to strip out once I get to the code). It would just take a little time which, right now, I just don't have.

If you're interested, please let me know either in a comment here or by messaging me.

Thanks.

(Still hiatusing by the way, thanks for the messages of support, they are much appreciated.)

Wow.
Today's the day my phone line was meant to be cut off - it might have been, I don't know, I'm at [livejournal.com profile] wenchpixie's place right now.

I just got the sweetest email from an INaP user saying how much he enjoyed the site and wanted to contribute to it. He just donated almost fifty dollars. Wow. I'm kinda humbled by that.

Thank you!

if anyone wants to contribute, there's a donation button on the front page of the domain moments lost

(I know, I'm posting a lot today - sorry!)

...moments lost... - the main page of my website is now fully up - although two of the links are not quite active yet, they should be tonight.

...pointless nostalgic... (aka Fandom's Bitch) is my own personal archive. This is hosted on the ever-wonderful [livejournal.com profile] wenchpixie's domain rather than the ML server.

I have also created new syndicated LJ feeds for most of the archive sites

[livejournal.com profile] fandomsbitch - the feed for Pointless Nostalgic
[livejournal.com profile] handonheart_bx - the feed for Hand On Heart (Buffy/Xander)
[livejournal.com profile] keytotheheart - the feed for Key To The Heart (Dawn/Xander)
[livejournal.com profile] effects_feed - the feed for Effects of a Troubled Heart (Faith/Xander)
[livejournal.com profile] sineya_updates - the feed for Daughters of Sineya (Slayer-centric site)
[livejournal.com profile] saltandburn_rss - the feed for the Salt & Burn fic archive.

and the all important one - [livejournal.com profile] ineedaparrotrss - the new feed for INaP

There are still three one more to add so rather than spam you, I'll edit this post during the day once they're done!

(yes, I'm aware that the links up on the INAP one are slightly odd, it's cause I hadn't made a change in the admin pages. It's fixed now and all the links from now on should be the correct ones. Sorry!)
