Still with the toothache...

Ouch.

(I'm not registered with an NHS dentist, none in the area are taking on new patients, and I can't afford to pay for dental treatment.)

Eating lunch earlier (an omlette for crying out loud...) the pain hit so bad I thumped the table and broke the plate. (Yeah, that may also explain why I keep buggering up my hand as well...) I honestly don't know how long I can put up with it.

Ow.

Anyways, I know I haven't posted anything about the London weekend two weeks ago (dude, TWO WEEKS!! How did that happen?!) it's because my poor old computer is getting old and cantakerous and is having 'issues' transferring pictures from my camera. *pets computer* It was an awesome time, not just because Steve, Rosalee and Darren were awesome as always, but because I got to spend time with friends in person - I didn't realise how much I'd missed that until I got home and realised that for a week the only people I spoke to were shop assistants and library staff. I will post about it and share pics soon - promise!

But never mind, the real reason for posting right now, and for posting with the icon which might seem a tad odd until this: I'm going to VAMPIRE BALL! Yay! (Or at least, I've just put an order in and am waiting for confirmation... *starts worrying*). It feels like forever since I was at a con as an attendee not staff! (Don't get me wrong - I LOVE working at cons, but at the last two Asylum's I saw a total of two panels.)

Plus? CHRIS!

I don't know if I'm going to be working at Asylum this year, I have emailed Wayne about it but apart from a question over Easter weekend I haven't heard back. I'm disappointed because I had a lot of fun working with the Rogue crew (I know some of you have issues with the way the cons are run, but they're good folks and really do try to make things as smooth as possible - plus, you have to admit it gets better every time) ad thought I did a good job for them but... there's still time, Wayne's a busy little really-quite-tall bee and there's still a month to go so...

Right, since I forgot to bring my pen drive with me to the library (sorry Cat, got your message about the landscape thing but don't have any relevant stock, it'll be Tuesday before I can get you a second draft) and the sun is splitting the trees out there, I'm going to go and try to avoid the funeral at the bowling green across from my house. :)

Thanks honey! I'm having the tiniest problem in that I have no clue who some of the guests are... (I'm way behind in True Blood and don't have the opportunity to watch Moonlight so I'm flying blind there!) But it will be so much fun!

hope you get better soon! You should try phoning nhs direct and explaining your problem - legally the nhs has to provide you treatment, and they can find someone who will see you. Even if it's just a one-time appointment rather than getting to be registered properly. Not that the nhs is necessarily free for dentistry... it's still heavily subsidised though isn't it? I never quite understood the system. Then again, I did my best to avoid it by not having been to the dentist since my 19th birthday, which was the last day it was completely free. That's.... five and a half years now? That's terrible. I must go when I get back from travelling (right now my teeth feel fine, and if a dentist fiddles with them they might get sore... I don't want to tempt fate before I go).

No problem about the tuesday thing, it gives me something to look forward to!! :D if you let me know what time you're going to be online, I can make sure I'm around, make for a faster route of communication?

Did you get my gazillion texts long of quotes btw? I can type it out again into an email if that's easier for you? here is the link to that song I mentioned.

*hugs*

They'd be happy to see me, but they'd charge me for the opporchancity wouldn't they? On JSA I can get most treatment free (if I wanted cosmetic stuff I'd have to pay but fillings and stuff are included as basic.

I did indeed get the text - heh! You've joined the list of people with whom I have psychic conversations - I reply in my head and then wonder why the reply's never acknowledged... *grins*

well, even if it's a one-off appt with a nhs dentist it'll cost the same amount as if you're registered with one, free if you can get it! It's worth calling up and finding out where you can go, because it's a bit useless if the nhs doesn't step in at moments like this.

Also, opporchancity is an awesome word! Almost as good as phemarkable.

And, I totally do that too! with the imagined conversations that I'm not sure why you don't remember!

Having had a bad toothache a while ago I'm all with the sympathy!

Re the "none in the area are taking new patients" - have you tried making it clear that it is an emergency? My experience (in Australia admittedly) was that even if they're booked up for weeks they will often fit you in if they know you're in severe pain and not just coming in for a clean or inspection.

The problem is that most dentists operate a 'double' practice, in that they have both NHS and private patients. Any one of them would be happy to see me as an emergency, but they'd treat me as a private patient and charge for it. Sucks doesn't it?

Wow, that sucks!

Sounds like you guys need health reform almost as much as the Americans do.

Yup. We've a lot to be grateful for with the NHS but it definitely has it's problems as well

This'll be the... fifth time (I think) I've been at a con with him - he is just so much fun!

Hun, if you contact NHS Direct they should be able to let you know where the nearest emergency NHS dental centre is. (I'm assuming these exist north of the border.) It's NHS care, but for those not currently registered with an NHS dentist. (I've heard really good things about the one in my town.)
