So on Tuesday evening I was cooking and had the radio on in the kitchen. Jo Whiley was playing an amazing song by a singer with a haunting voice, I was hooked completely and was kinda on tenterhooks to find out who it was. When it was done she said it was Ed Sheeran and that he would be on Later Live with Jools Holland that night. I duly watched (hell, I even suffered through one of my least favourite "singers" to do so!) and on he comes. Totally not what I expected, he's really young and very ginger. But he was awesome. He was on his own and managing to mix vocal tracks as he was performing and just blew me away. Seriously amazing.

Anyways, I've just been to his site to see what he's up to and am really pleased to see that by signing up to his mailing list you get a free download of his EP. It's currently dling in the background here and I kinda can't wait to hear it.

Go. Check him out. Ed Sheeran.

This wasn't meant to be a busy week, it was meant to be quite quiet until tomorrow but hell if it didn't suddenly swamp me with stuff!

Sorry I've been absent again, like I say, I've been busy. I'm hoping to be a lot calmer after the weekend and should be back around!

Finally got confirmation of my booking for the Steve gigs in London at the end of the month, I was honestly starting to get a little worried about it but it's all good. Only thing irking me is that Youth Hostel site isn't taking SYHA member numbers for the discount. But never mind, it'll get sorted out though, I've put a note in with the number so we'll see how it goes.

Tomorrow is my posting day at [livejournal.com profile] jossverse_bb, still not sure how the whole thing's going to work (especially with the two artists for the fic thing) but I'm sure it'll all be good!

This weekend's the Calcutta Cup game in rugby so (if I can get my phone to re-connect it) I apologise for the spammign of Twitter that will be going on...

Plus, I have two icon challenges to enter and haven't been in the mood to work on them. One of them's for tomorrow... I'll get something done I'm sure though. In fact, I'm about to go home and fire up Photoshop so... laters!

(btw - if you haven't checked out Christian Kane's new EP, you can download it from his site)

Unforgiven II was at number 9
The number one? Disappear.

So many of you chose Enter Sandman, it didn't even feature.

(and my favourite? Frantic)

ETA Would any SPN fen be willing to do a really quick judging pass over the RPS category at the Salt & Burn Awards? One of my judges has pulled out of that category and although I have two others judging it, one of them's me and I'm not a fan of RPS really so...

Library's closed tomorrow so I won't be online until Thursday afternoon. [livejournal.com profile] bellatemple, [livejournal.com profile] hopeless_cynic and [livejournal.com profile] kitty_cat89 all have the judging guidelines. Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks all!

Scuzz TV had the top 100 signature tracks chart today, and we'll ignore the fact that this should really mean 100 artists/artistes with their one signature track and allow the channel to play more than one track each (because otherwise Sho will explode) and wonder just what it is that makes a signature track.

Metallica hit number one on the chart. What do you think was their 'signature track' according to 'Scuzz TV' (which I was dropping in and out of whilst watching other shows and only really caught the top ten of, nonetheless two of the following made that shortlist, and one of these didn't make the chart but happens to be my favourite Metallica track...)

[Poll #1466053]

edit SPN fen? You need to read [livejournal.com profile] dotfic's meta.
And SPN & Firefly fen? Seriously. Go and follow [livejournal.com profile] nwhepcat's journal. I feel awful that I've yet to comment on a fic that sent shivers up my spine (in a good way) - she writes the most amazing, thoughtful, contemplative and insightful fic. I am so happy that one of my favourite writers is now writing in the SPN verse, and am even more happy that she is mixing my other fandoms with it. Seriously, go. read. And Honey? a sensible review of Still Waters is coming. I swear it.

Question: enter sandman is the best song ever. Y/N
(Yay! The latest pain killer kicked in and scuzz tv are playing the 100 rock classics. Would be awesome if the track in question hadn't been at number 14)
Eta: dear scuzz tv - the only guns n roses track that should have been near the top twenty is 'sweet child o mine'. I'm a diehard rock chick and I've never heard this 'patience' crap you put at number 5. Seriously. Enter Sandman. S'all you need to say.

Okay, so most of my flist are sensible people, right? Most of you would know that there's something really wrong with these lyrics (gleaned from Lyricwiki.org - now changed by me)

I taught you lessons about freedom
Strapped to the bucket of a 4 5 bike
I lit your hair on fire
Racing ten mile flats
Where American heavy metal cries
Oh we were waitin' and wishin'
On pink slips and kisses at the end of the line
When you rat-a-tat tatted on the glass
And you screamed
I'm alive

Seriously, talking about buckets, and ten mile flats, and pink slips. How does that equate a 4 5 bike? Speaking of, what the hell is a 4 5 bike?

Really?

This is what it should have been: )

(The song will be known to most of you I think - Christian Kane's "Let's Take a Drive". Currently my favourite song for making me feel good about myself.

Apologies for the mix up! For some reason my server is not recognising the files I uploaded yesterday and is throwing errors back when people try to access the music. I've updated the post with Sendspace links while I figure out what's going on with that.

The original post with the new links for Ruarri Joseph's songs

Three posts in one day... wow, sorry about that!

Anyways, a couple of weeks ago I was listening to Radio 2 and heard Dermot O'Learey talking to a singer/songwriter based in Cornwall. I kinda fell in love with his voice and have been hunting about a little for him online.

Ruarri Joseph's MySpace page.

He's kinda awesome and a lot of my flist will appreciate him. (Think Jason, Fio et al.)

Go, check him out.

And if you want a freebie - his radio 2 session is available for download via his MySpace and last night I extracted the songs from it (edit Links are now via Sendspace because my server is playing up for some reason):

More Than Most (album track from his album due out in March)
Make You Feel My Love Dylan cover.

Go, have a listen, you won't regret it! Since the session is available for download via Ruarri's site, I'm fine about sharing this music. If you're connected with Ruarri and would rather I not share these tracks this way then please, let me know.

So I've not been online much this week. Because I've been travelling the country in search of awesomness. AKA Steve Carlson. Luckily my travels happened to coincide with two gigs the man was doing and I found myself dragged into said gigs. It's almost like it was planned or something...

The gigs have been amazing, absolutely completely and utterly amazing.

We flew back to Glasgow from London this afternoon after being at a gig last night (also with Jason Manns who's gradually turing into a giant cuddly teddy bear) and am currently at Wench's place since I have to be back at the airport for 5.30 tomorrow morning to go to the Asylum 2 convention.

I realised as soon as I began typing this that I hadn't really mentioned all this on my own journal, so the random voice posts and general insanity over the last week may have been a tad bit confusing. Well, there's more to come. Trust me.

*g*

Go buy Steve's new album btw, CD Baby have it. Steve said last night that they'd run out so I'm not sure if there'll be any at Asylum - I hope so!

Also? Darren and Rosalee are awesome and genuinly lovely people.

And, my name is Sho and I have a pick addiction.

*g*

(finally - I still have the ink stamp from the bar on my hand. Anyone got some Swarfega handy?)

So, already I'm at around skip=eleventybillion on my flist and am so far behind on comments that it's making my brain hurt. I will try my hardest to get to everyone, but link me? Please?
