You know what's really fun when you're hungover? Having your train terminate one stop after you get on it, having the replacement bus break down, having to get on the next replacement bus, then - just as you're almost at the station where you meet the train again - have the guy in the seat behind you throw up.

No really, it's the best way to get over a hangover.

(Weekend long birthday celebrations, much red wine consumed.)

It was a good weekend, apart from the nightmare journey from hell...

I posted fic yesterday. It's m/m slash crossover fic. Dean Winchester/Lindsey McDonald. Set mid season three of SPN and post-NFA of Angel. Theophilus' Kiss - it is NC-17 and slash so you've been warned. I'll cross post it to some comms later, when I work up the nerve, 'cause we all know how low my self-esteem is!

Torchwood finale = cut for the non-UKers out there )

(not spoilery beyond my reaction btw)

Doctor Who 4:01 = again, cut 'cause I love my flist - this one is spoilery though )

SPN - haven't had a chance to read much of the reports coming from EyeCon but I have seen Jim Beaver's t-shirt. How bloody awesome was that?! I really want to make myself an icon of that - I will find the original I figure, but does anyone know who it belongs to and if they'll be likely to allow me to use it? (With credit of course!)

Those of you who don't know what I'm talking about - Jim Beaver who plays Bobby Singer in the show, wore a t-shirt that reads "I read John/Bobby". *grins*

Right, now I'm going to eat something and find something better to do with my day than watch Mission: Impossible. Again. *g*

Back from the nurse now, my sports strap is fantastic because it's thicker and more supportive, but it's too short. So I'm back to tubi-grip which isn't supportive enough, but can go further up my arm to support the bit that needs supported most. And I've to not do anything with that arm apart from the exercises I've been given because the more I do with it, the longer it'll take to heal. Which sucks.

But anyways... I'm going to go write now, because I can, and because I have a ... scenario rather than a story in my head now and have had since last Saturday morning. Have to get it on paper or my brain will explode.

re-watched Torchwood, liking it more now although I still want to spork Gwen. Straw poll (and since I'm on Semagic and not the LJ poll page, it'll be a yes/no. Would the people not in the UK prefer me to continue to put all Torchwood (and DW when it returns) comments behind a cut? I kinda love being in this position for once...

I've had two icons nominated over at [livejournal.com profile] super_awards - I've never been nominated (so far as I know) in one of those communities and it's always been one of those things I've aspired to. Yeah, I have no life and my aspirations are a little odd!

Wow.

My graphics muse is back now and I have a list of things I want to accomplish today sitting right in front of me, top of that list is Booster's Banners - I don't quite believe it's been so long since I said I'd have a try at them. I think someone must have opened some kind of time/space rift somewhere. Possibly in the centre of Cardiff. *g* (Torchwood kinda rocked - I've been a little ambivalent about the show up until now, but Combat was fantastic (if a teeny bit predictable) and the two part finale was just awesome. I may give the whole season a rewatch at some point soon to see if the earlier episodes fare better the second time around (although Countrycide is never going to be anything but a huge disappointment to me. In case you missed it, I'm an SPN fan and I love the film Dog Soldiers - that might go a very long way towards explaining why the TW episode leaves me cold.)

On the other hand, the Sarah Jane Adventures was a bit crap really. I know it's aimed at kids - and they'll probably love it - but is it me or is Lis Sladen a bit... wooden in it?)

Aaaanyways, I was all productive yesterday, posted graphics to [livejournal.com profile] slayerversathon (come, join, post!), finished and returned [livejournal.com profile] emeraldswan's beta for SKoH6 and made some other graphics (new banner for the AVAs and a couple of wallpapers which were made for specific people, if I get the go ahead from them I'll post them publicly soon). Planning on doing the same today - but without the staying up to 4am watching Studio 60... I got work tomorrow. *g*

"I Aten't Dead"

I didn't fall asleep at the wheel on Thursday and die in a horrific (and improbable) car crash off the M8 involving an escaped reticulated python being beaten soundly by a small fluffy kitten. I've just been... away, mostly.

The good news - SPN rocked. Seriously, Crossroad Blues was a fantastic episode which is underscoring the meta-type thoughts I've been having lately about the season as a whole. And the promo for the next episode? Gnnh! (Again, spoilery speculation type thoughts that I haven't seen mentioned elsewhere and which totally fit the thoughts I've been having about the show.) I should really put together these thoughts into a post at some point before too much longer..

The bad news. Torchwood can't do horror. Seriously, stick to Sci-Fi next time, please? The episode wasn't too bad I guess, although how much did it cry out for a character death? (I was thinking Ianto since it's the first time we've seen him outside of the confines of the dogsbody niche he's carved out for himself, but hey, what do I know about TV? Oh... that's right... *g*) But they really can't do horror.

The slightly odd news, amongst other tastes I was mostly a rock chick in my teens and early twenties. I mellowed out a lot over the last ten years and was more emo/indie/MotR lately. So why am I now listening to the Maiden and 'obtaining' the Alexisonfire CD? (And also peeved that I can't find the Enter Shikari track anywhere)? I blame television. (not that I want to blame anything, 'cause I have no problem with being a rock chick, but seriously, the soundtrack of SPN seeping into my head every week has got to be a big part of this, right?)

Kay, I'm off to write at least 5,000 words today. I have decreed it and it shall be so. </randomosity>

But first - the tarot card meme! )

I've been cutting down the amount of time I spend online at the weekends lately for various reasons and I can't believe I missed this. I am a horrible, horrible friend....

Happy Belated Birthday emeraldswanEmmy!!!

I'm so sorry I missed it - I suck, clearly.

I'm in the process of coming up with some guidelines/not-quite-rules for the SlayerVerse 'athon' which I really need to come up with a name for - I've been half-calling it "Street Spirit" in my head 'cause of the Radiohead song but it's (like so many of my titles) randomly obscure so better suggestions please? Once I've compiled the guidelines I'll stick 'em up here in a wide open post for people to register interest if they like - although there's going to be no required sign up since it's an open 'athon' with no individual assignments. Timing wise, I was half-thinking the end of December since I know a lot of people will be NaNoing next month (myself included) but would January work better for people? How about have posting start on the 1st of Jan and run through to the end of the month?

Random segue #4,397. So Torchwood started last night on BBC3 (I imagine the torrent's up by now). I cut out of love )

And my boss ain't here today, which means I get a good run at all the *stuff* I need to do - sorry [livejournal.com profile] thedothatgirl, I didn't get that banner started for you - hopefully tonight. Definitely you'll have a proof copy by Wednesday at the very latest. (As well as those light filters I'm going to be sending you!)

SPN thoughts coming later in another post, again I want to rewatch it and get my brain together first. What I will say right now is this: Oh, Dean! *g*
